Turning The Key of Prayer.  Part 4.  The Lord's Prayer.

2/26/2014

The Lord's Prayer (based on Matthew 6:9-13 & Luke 11:2-4)
Our Father which art in heaven
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done.
On earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever.
Amen.

We can model our prayers on "The Lord's Prayer".

Our Father which art in heaven.
1. God is personal but holds a high position.
Hallowed be thy name.
2. Speak about God’s character.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
3. Acknowledge that His ways are best, and you’re willing to obey them.
Give us this day our daily bread.
4. Ask God to give you what you need today.
And forgive us our trespasses*, as we forgive those who trespass against us. )*Trespass = false step/sin).
5. Receive forgiveness and pass it on to others.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
6. Ask for help to choose and protection from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
7. End your prayer believing God will work.

Question for Reflection
How often should we model our daily prayers on "The Lord's Prayer" and why?

I welcome your comments.

Praying is the only thing that I know how to do during this trying times. There are people who think that it is weird for me to do that, and I get it. Praying will not assure me anything, but it helps me calm down. I am able to talk to God, and my heart is always at the right place whenever I get to do all of this. If you want something to get you going, then try having faith.

Thank you for your comment. I agree, praying during hard times is of great help and I'm encouraged that your faith is important to you. You said that "Praying will not assure me anything". Although I certainly don't believe we can order God around, prayer can and does assure us of many things. I think of this passage from Philippians that assures us of God's peace, for instance. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
(Philippians 4:6-7 https://my.bible.com/bible/111/PHP.4.6-7). I pray for the peace that comes from knowing Christ to be present in your heart and life today.
