A Quote To Ponder

5/6/2015

A Quote to Ponder.
As I was writing my weekly blog, I realized that I was writing a sermon. So, I decided to just share the main quote I was pondering and we'll dive into it in greater detail some Sunday soon.

This quote comes from an interview with Caleb Kaltenbach, talking about his upcoming book, "Messy Grace: How a Pastor with Gay Parents Learned to Love Others Without Sacrificing Conviction". (Read more about Caleb here>>).  The interview made me ask questions about how our church is, and will be, at handling "messy" conversations with God's Grace.

Here's the quote:
Interviewer (Carey): "Why do you think it’s so difficult to have honest conversations in the church?"

Caleb: "Because I think some Christians think that when they’re Christians they have to get their act together.  And to play their certain part.  I think that when we don’t allow messy conversations in churches, we create sanctuaries for fake people."

Hmm.  Interesting.  How would you respond to the interviewer's question?  Do you think that's true, that the church in general doesn't like honest or "messy" conversations?

Coming soon to a church near you :)

I think that you won't have messy conversation in a church. It is normal question of moral boarders. Majority would never let the whole truth come up.

I was just curious...are you saying that we shouldn't have messy conversations in the church? If so, where should we have these open and honest conversations?

Church doesn`t give answers to many questions at least ministers of religion. It has some strict rules and doctrine. And when you are trying to anylize and doubt in think. You will be told that it all comes from devil. So what`s the use of telling what you think?
