Getting Connected

Jean Vanier said, “There are times when together we discover that we make up a single body, that we belong to each other and that God has called us to be together as a source of life for each other.” Church experience is meant to be so much more than just spending an hour together worshiping God on Sunday mornings. It isn’t meant to be some dusty organization that does the same thing week in and week out. The church is alive, it is vibrant and it is meant to have a real impact on each of our lives. The church is made of all sorts of people, some introverted, some extroverted, some who see church as something new and others who may think that they’ve seen it all. The church is full of people with different skills, talents and strengths which God blesses and unites together for the purpose of growing closer together as they grow closer to Christ. I invite you to consider getting connected and allowing God to bless you and maybe even stretch you by taking part in some of the activities that will be happening in the church.

One of those activities that are starting up again this September is the Wednesday Bible Study. It has been said that as a church grows larger it has to focus on growing smaller. The Wednesday Bible Study allows people to spend time learning together through reading and studying God’s Word and also giving us an opportunity to connect with each other.

There have been many ways that Bible Studies have been conducted. Maybe you have been a part of a Bible Study group before and either you liked it or you didn’t. This will be my first time leading a Bible Study group at Laurentian and I think it will be helpful to you to know how I lead those studies. During our time together we will be reading Scripture, asking and answering questions and having some prayer time. After the study and prayer time is over there will be an opportunity for us to spend some time together in fellowship. During our time together there is no pressure for anyone to do anything that they are not comfortable doing. If you do not like reading out loud, praying out loud or even answering questions you will not have to.

The first study I will be leading will be on the Gospel of Mark. Everyone is welcome to attend either of the two times the study is being offered. ( 10:00am and 7:00pm )

Please prayerfully consider coming to the Wednesday Bible Study. I am looking forward to studying God’s Word with you.
