Making A Difference For Christ Around The World

Since our Last Local Church Conference there has been new developments concerning the missionaries we as a church have supported. Both Cora Gorman and Rod Guptill who we have supported for years are returning from the mission field and are no longer in need of our financial support. In saying that there are many opportunities in which our church can be of great help. Recently the Mexican District Superintendent Rev. Gaham Herberth Castillo shared a need with the work being done in Todos Santos. You may recall that this past February a mission team consisting of a group from Powassan Wesleyan Church and Laurentian Wesleyan Church went down to work on an addition to the Todos Santos church which is linked to the church in Ensenada . The work in Todos Santos has grown quickly with two thirds of those attending the worship services being children. This work that is flourishing in Todos Santos is in need of financial assistance to help with the various costs incurred with the ministry such as Sunday School material and fuel for the church van which picks up the children who attend the church activities. Our LBA was presented with the request for financial assistance and we have agreed to support this church work in Mexico for one year.

Also because of our involvement with the Christian Salvage Mission (CSM) we have become aware of the financial need that this great Christian organization has. It receives many requests for resources from ministers and missionaries from around the world but the CSM is only able to meet a small portion of those needs. It only costs approximately $25.00 to send a collection of books to a person in need and so we have made a commitment to assist the CSM by giving them $50.00 per month to help get these resources that we have collected from Northern Ontario to the people who are in need.

As a church we feel it is important to support missionaries on the mission field so we are currently seeking and determining how we can be of help to other missionaries. As things develop we will share any news with the church as it becomes available.

God bless, Pastor Chris
