It’s hard to believe that the season of Christmas is upon us already. It feels as if my family and I have just arrived and yet as I look back on the last three months I can see that God has blessed the work that has just begun here at Laurentian.
One of the first challenges that came to light when I began my ministry work here at Laurentian was the need to update our sound system. Shortly after I arrived we acquired a sound system that was generously donated by Southgate Community Church and was installed in our facility by the people of Laurentian. Praise God! I know that this was something that I couldn’t have done without the help of others and what a blessing it has been!
October 21, was a very busy day at Laurentian. During our morning worship service we were fortunate to have Rev. Peter Rigby, our Assistant District Superintendent, who during the service performed my installation service. On the same day we unveiled our new Cross that was mounted on the outside of our building. This was a special time for the church where we enjoyed a wonderful dinner together and then shared a small service outside once it was dark. After singing The Old Rugged Cross, with neigbours looking on, our Cross was unveiled to the world. The North Bay Nugget took notice and an article covering the evening event was soon published.
Just recently a new mailbox was donated and installed which makes it possible for everyone to have their own individual mail slots. This is a wonderful gift that will certainly increase the flow of communication between everyone at our church.
More importantly I am very grateful to God for the connections that have just begun between me and the people of Laurentian. Laurentian is filled with very warm and friendly people who have opened and shared their lives with me and my family. I look forward to continuing to strengthen these bonds of friendships and living our lives together as the years go by.
Merry Christmas everyone and Happy New Year. God bless,
Pastor Chris
