What A Great Summer

A little bit of sun, a touch of warm weather mixed with a lot of excitement.

That’s how I would characterize the summer of 2008. We have had so many things to give God thanks for over the past summer months.

Starting off at the beginning of July I attended the conference for the Central Canada District of The Wesleyan Church where our church along with a few other churches were recognized for having the largest increase in average attendance for the past five years. Our church is growing! Let us give thanks to God for each new person who we can connect, share and grow with.

On July 17, we were blessed to have the Youth Team Kingdom from Roblin Wesleyan Church lead a special evening service. Some of the youth shared their testimonies during the service but what really hit home was their original drama that they presented during the service. It touched everyone who was there that night. Personally it broke my heart and it was a reminder that we need to see this world through Christ’s eyes and not just our own.

Another special evening service took place on August 8, with the Southern Gospel Quartet, “Freedom’s Voice.” What a fantastic group of guys. They sang their hearts out and the church thoroughly enjoyed the evening service.

Over the summer things here at the church continued to move along. Our Bible Study met on a weekly basis and was well attended. Our Youth Group met once a month and had lots of fun when we were together. Our Bible Club successfully experimented with a two week program in which one week the kids had their normal program and the other week stayed in the sanctuary using a self directed clipboard program. Over the summer months as a church we had a couple of get-togethers. We had fun with the Sunday School Picnic and the Wesleyan Women’s Picnic.

A highlight for the summer was welcoming Tony Verlinden as a Community Member of our church in August. It was a real joy personally for me to offer Tony the right hand of fellowship.

As summer began to come to a close and the fall programs began to start up again. We received our much anticipated multimedia projector which replaced our overhead projector. This multimedia projector has so much potential in improving our services. What a great blessing it has been already.

It’s been a great summer but the best is yet to come. I am looking forward to what is going to happen here at Laurentian. What an exciting time to be a part of such a great church.

God bless,

Pastor Chris
