Fall at Laurentian has been a season of preparations and of new beginnings. We have many wonderful things to give God thanks for as we move together through this season.
In September our Bible Study and Youth Group once again started to meet but with both activities there was a new twist this fall. Starting this past September instead of one Bible Study there are now two being offered covering different books of the Bible with one meeting in the morning and the other meeting in the evening. This has been a positive move as more people are now attending a Bible Study and growing in their understanding of God’s Word. Also starting this fall new leadership came on board with our Youth Group. It’s been wonderful having Neal and Elsie Reevie work with our Youth Group. They have even within this short period of time added a new dynamic to the Youth Group and our Youth Group participation is up from last year.
During the month of September the men of our church enjoyed another breakfast together. After the Men’s Breakfast some of the men were able to help install our new banner announcing our church anniversary. It’s been great seeing the men pull together and work towards some common goals.
This Fall our church shipped out another 54 banana boxes containing Christian material such as Bibles, hymnals and Sunday School material to the Christian Salvage Mission. The Christian Salvage Mission will in turn send out the material collected to churches, missionaries and Christians in need around the world. In total Laurentian has helped send over two hundred boxes or 11,000lbs of material to the Christian Salvage Mission since 2007. For more information please read the article, “Laurentian Wesleyan Church Reaches Beyond Its Boarders” found on our church website and while you’re there take some time to look at some of the pictures from the event that have been posted.
During September we as a church were able to celebrate with Verna Kightley as she was baptized. This was the first baptismal service Laurentian Wesleyan Church celebrated since 2006. Our baptismal service was held at
This fall has also been a busy time of preparations which include planning for our church anniversary and our work with Operation Christmas Child. We’ve been working hard and we are seeing plans come into fruition. It’s exciting to see the life and excitement in our church. As we give God thanks for the opportunities in which we can serve him and see Him work within this wonderful church let me also thank you for your efforts, prayers and support. With God’s blessings we are making a difference. Recently when I was talking to a person and I mentioned our church the person said to me, “Oh I know your church. You’re the guys who do stuff right?” I loved hearing comments like that from people because they show that the community we enjoy living in is taking notice. Keep up the wonderful work everyone.
God bless, Pastor Chris
