Change

How do you feel about change? While some people find the experience unsettling and difficult, others thrive upon it and thrill to the idea of change. Ideally, the majority of us would like to see levels somewhere in between. Life is filled with change, and we can neither turn the clock ahead nor back to compensate. Thankfully, as a church we are blessed to have one another to lean on in time of change.

This past February Rita Ott went to be with the Lord.  We are grateful for her friendship and for her love, and we are thankful she is no longer struggling for breadth or is in pain.  That sort of change is hard to accept because we who are left miss her dearly.  In the month of March Kay Williams moved to Lively to be closer to family and that too is a good change, but those of us who had to say goodbye miss seeing her at church with her constant cheerful and positive attitude.  Changes like the ones we experience with Rita or with Kay are hard, and we sometimes wish we didn’t have to face these kinds of changes. These changes, however, should always remind us how precious each person in our church family is to the rest of the church, and how special our time together truly is.

As we live life together, and as we feel the pressures of change trying to push us to and fro let us remember that we live life not as individuals, but in a shared community. Together as a church we have, and continue to build our lives on, the ultimate rock that doesn’t change.  The Lord said in Malachi 3:6, “I the Lord do not change.  So you, O descendant of Jacob, are not destroyed.”  So friends, if you ever start to feel overwhelmed by the changes we all experience in our lives, remember that together we hold onto the only thing that stays constant in life, and that which we hold onto is God Almighty.

God bless,    Pastor Chris
