Laurentian Wesleyan Church
"Helping people to connect with God and each other in loving ways."

Wow Things Are Happening!

The past three months have just flown by here at Laurentian and I’m excited to be able to share with you what God has been doing with this wonderful church.

In the last edition of the News From The Pews I wished everyone a Merry Christmas and that’s exactly what we had here at Laurentian. The Advent season and Christmas services were very special. The youth of our church presented an awesome Christmas Concert that everyone enjoyed immensely. Early in December we were able to have a wonderful time of food and fellowship at our Christmas Brunch. But I think the highlight of the season was our Christmas Eve Candlelight Service which was just beautiful.

Things didn’t slow down after the Christmas season. Early in the New Year with much fanfare we unveiled our church’s new and first website. This is an exciting way for our church to connect with the people in our community and throughout the world. The story of our website even made front page news with an article in the local newspaper, the North Bay Nugget, titled, Praise The Lord (And Pass The Laptop.) If you haven’t checked out yet our new website go to: www.laurentianchurch.com. Don’t forget to click on the Photo Gallery where you can see pictures of recent events and our Calendar that lets people know what’s going on here at Laurentian.

The Easter season has come early this year. We enjoyed a Potluck Luncheon after the Palm Sunday service. Our church participated in an ecumenical Good Friday service along with three other churches in our community. It was awesome to worship God in unity with so many of our brothers and sisters in Christ who attend other houses of worship in North Bay .

On Sunday February 24, we as a church had the privilege to welcome Kay Williams our first new Covenant Member for 2008. I considered it a privilege to offer the right hand of fellowship and to welcome Kay as a member of our church.

On Monday February 25, I was interviewed by our local Christian radio station K103.5 FM. This was a fantastic opportunity to introduce myself as the new Minister of Laurentian Wesleyan Church and to share with the listeners of K103.5 FM what God has been doing here in this awesome church.

But that’s not all that’s been happening here at Laurentian. There has been other ways we as a church have grown closer together through fellowship opportunities. Our Laurentian Women’s Ministry has been having wonderful meetings on a monthly basis. Here at Laurentian we have two Bible Study groups that meet weekly. Our Youth Group is small but growing and those who are involved are having a great time enjoying each other’s company and learning about their faith.

There is still more to come. There are exciting things being planned and organized even now. This spring is going to be an awesome time. I encourage all of you to get connected and involved in the activities here at Laurentian. And hey why not let your friends, family and neighbours know what a great church Laurentian is.

God bless,

Pastor Chris
